Tom O'Connell leads Purk & Associates, P.C.'s dealership practice. For more than 30 years automotive and franchised dealers have relied on Tom's knowledge of their industry, coupled with his tax and financial expertise, to minimize their tax burden and maximize their profits. Tom is highly skilled at analyzing dealer statements with an eye toward cost savings. He ensures clients protect the bottom line by improving efficiency, managing personnel size, implementing internal controls, customizing accounting methods, and selecting the right software. Tom consults on numerous dealership buy/sell transactions each year, assisting with purchase price allocations and factory approval. Recognized for his excellence, Tom has been an expert witness in legal proceedings involving LIFO and automobile dealership accounting issues, and has been called to speak at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) annual meeting. Prior to joining Purk & Associates, Tom has a long and accomplished career consulting to the dealership industry.
Tom earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri - St. Louis and a Masters of Business Administration from St. Louis University. He is a member of the National Alliance of Auto Dealer Advisors (NAADA), Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is a director of St. John Vianney High School and Guardian Angel Settlement Association as well as a member of many community and civic organizations.
